BUS priority measures on the 123 route are working, according to the London Transport Users' Committee (LTUC), the transport watchdog organisation.
The measures on the route through Wood Green, Walthamstow and Ilford include Transport for London (TfL) giving priority to buses when they pass through roadworks and the construction planned for the North Circular Road when the Bounds Green extension goes ahead.
However, LTUC insists it is vital bus shelters are kept clean and graffiti-free so people are not discouraged from using public transport.
Brian Cooke, chairman of the LTUC, said: "The reliability of the 123 bus has, according to our diarists, got better because of the bus priority measures.
"But there is still room for improvement. "Across London on all routes we found passengers valued a clean, safe and accessible environment, not just during the journey but also while waiting for buses, boarding and alighting."
A recent study found that bus services in the capital were getting better but needed priority to cope with congestion, roadworks and inconsiderate parking.
