EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR looks set to remain at Arsenal after appearing to have priced himself out of a move to Barcelona.
According to a report in The Sun this morning, it appears that the Spanish giants have called into question the Togo hitman's attitude and are refusing to pay the Gunners staggering £37.5million asking price.
The report claims that Adebayor told a team-mate: “I’m not sure if I’m going to leave now.”
With AC Milan having already dropped out of the running, Barca coach Pep Guardiola had believed to be leading the chase, but he is not happy with the strikers massive wage demands and the attitude of Adebayor’s advisors.
The striker is reported to want a huge pay hike of around £120,000 a week — four times his current wages.
And Adebayor could now be met with a frosty reception back at Arsenal, with boss Arsene Wenger believed to be furious with the 24-year-old, who is thought to have turned down a new £60,000-a-week deal at the Emirates.
Reflecting on the situation,Wenger was previously quoted as saying: “I have not met many people who do not believe they have a case to improve their contract.
“We are always ready and I fight to get the players the maximum wages, but you have to respect that we have a wage structure.”
