Stow skipper dreaming on unthinkable title win

AFTER his team continued the phenomenal late run of form, Walthamstow skipper Greg Harris is still dreaming of winning the Division Two title.

The E17 boys made it seven wins on the trot and ten games unbeaten after another amazing bowling display from Harris and his partner in crime Andy Fernandes.

The Stow skipper with another brilliant seven-wicket haul, coupled with three more scalps from Fernandes made it 105 victims for the season for the pair, as they helped their team get out of jail to beat Leigh-on-Sea.

And the 79-run victory saw them jump into the promotion spots for the first time this season, after league leaders Fives slipped up against Shenfield and dropped to third in the process.

And with the two local rivals locked on 228 points ahead of their do-or-die clash at the Paddock, there is still all to play for, especially with leaders Loughton just four points above the pair.

Reflecting on events, Harris said: “It was another great win for us on Saturday against Leigh and it is amazing that we now find ourselves in the promotion places.

“When you consider we were third from bottom after six games, it has been a real team effort to get where we are now.

“This run has been amazing and while perhaps we are still not batting that well, we are confident we can bowl out any team and win the match now.

“It is going to be like a cup final against Five and while we know so much is at stake on Saturday we believe we can win the game.

“And if we do that, not only will we be promoted there is still a chance we could win the league if Loughton don't win their match against Harold Wood.”
