Snarebrooks show Dutch of class in Euro tournament

SNARESBROOK Youth FC U17s returned from a pre-season tour of Holland where they won third place in a tournament.

The tour kicked off with a 5-0 friendly win over KFC Herenthout of Belgium.

The first goal came from Robert Caine who made the most of a fine cross from skipper Josh Woodcock, which was followed by a trademark goal from Jack Weaver.

There followed a second-half hat-trick from Elliot Boakye.

In the next day’s tournament first round group matches, Snaresbrook won their first game against Bsv Limburgia 3-0, thanks to goals from Caine, Ricky Briggs, and Boakye.

The second match against hosts EHC resulted in a 1-1 draw, after Briggs got another great goal.

The third game against Adveo Co ended 2-0 to Snaresbrook thanks to goals from Woodcock and Boakye.

The fourth and final group game against Kerkrade West was 1-1 after Briggs scored another. But the Londoners went through to the semi-final on goal difference.

The semi-final against Bekkerveld was goal-less after extra time and went to penalties.

Brook keeper Smyth was beaten twice and Snaresbrook failed to score a single penalty.

However, in the play off final for third place against SVN, Brook’s Ollie Young-Myles scored a fantastic goal from distance, ensuring a 1-0 win and a trophy for the east Londoners.

In this final game of the tour the expertise of The Brook’s physiotherapist John Caine was called upon for after Dominic Herbert suffered a knee injury in the second half.

Around the site
