ORIENT manager Martin Ling has criticised the officials for his side's exit from the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
The O's chief was angry that Adam Virgo was given another chance for Brighton in last night’s penalty shoot-out at Withdean.
O’s young keeper Jamie Jones saved Virgo’s fourth spot-kick for Albion but a re-take was ordered and Michel Kuipers went on to save from Luke Ashworth to set up the Seagulls’ 5-4 victory in the shoot-out.
Ling said: “Jones’ save and Kuipers’ save were the same. Both keepers took a step off the line so I don’t know what the difference is.”
Micky Adams had no sympathy for Ling, who he signed for Albion during his first spell in charge of the club.
Adams said: “I think the rules are the goalkeepers are allowed to move sideways but not forward.
“The linesman was in a great position and he said their goalkeeper had moved forward, so well done to the linesman. They are the rules of the competition.”
